With the rise of terrorism in West Africa, Mali finds itself facing several threats. While it had sought help from France some years back, the tensions that ended up rising between the French military, radical and terrorist groups, and the transitional government, complicated the landscape. Political instability, successive coups d’etat, harsh socioeconomic conditions, and the presence of private military contractors, make it difficult to predict the future of Mali.
